Colliers International New Zealand has launched a new website enabling car park owners the ability to list their car spaces for sale or lease on-line for free.
The new website provides unique functionality in that rather than being an auction site as such - it enables two parties to negotiate via anonymous email until they agree on a price and purchase conditions. A Colliers International broker is able to follow the negotiations and the vendor only pays a fee when a successful transaction takes place.
Colliers has launched the site as demand for CBD car spaces has hit an all time high. Car parks provide a low entry point option for property investors, particularly as an alternative to the volatile Auckland apartment market and parking space remains one of the top performers in the inner city property market.
In 2007 alone Roger Seavill, the broker behind www.carparknz.co.nz ,sold over 300 car parks worth about $12 million. Seavill says the outlook for the next few years looks rosy for car park investors with the Auckland City Council enforcing a policy to constrain the supply of long term parking to cut the amount of traffic coming into the CBD.
