Colliers managing director Mark Synnott expects fees from "corporate recovery work" to be his company's key earner in the coming year.
Colliers has been involved in the surge of mortgagee sales this year and is being approached on a daily basis by banks and financiers seeking an exit strategy from loans that have gone sour.
Mr Synnott notes Colliers began its operations in New Zealand two years after the 1987 share market crash and much of its work at that time involved corporate high fliers quitting properties.
