In a move to be closer to its clients Colliers International’s 20-strong industrial team has shifted to a new office at Highbrook business park in East Tamaki.
As well as being one of the first office tenants at Highbrook, Colliers International has leased more than 70,000 sq m of industrial space in purpose designed and built facilities for several big businesses.
“The opening of a 450 sq m South Auckland industrial and metro office in The Crossing development at 52 Highbrook Drive is a strategic decision for the company,” says Colliers International industrial director Charles Cooper.
“The focus is growth. Expansion over the next 18 months will include the hiring of an additional 20 staff to provide a full property services office that includes expanded sales and leasing operations as well as valuation and property management.
“South Auckland is the biggest commercial real estate market in New Zealand and it is relatively unsophisticated from a property services point of view,” says Cooper. We intend changing that with our growth plans.”
Andrew Hooper, Colliers’ south industrial manager says the move is already paying dividends and has provided benefits for clients. “It is closer to their businesses and easier for us to give them a much better service, particularly now the office has been divided into central, south and metro teams.”
A seven-strong team services the south area, which includes East Tamaki, Airport Oaks, Manukau, Wiri, Takanini, Tuakau and Pokeno precincts. Six brokers work across the central area of Onehunga, Penrose, Mt Wellington and Otahuhu, while a team of four concentrates on all South Auckland non-industrial property South Auckland.
Colliers’ new open plan first floor office on the corner of Highbrook Drive and Business Parade South has water views and looks out on to Highbrook’s signature lavender beds.
Cooper says the company wanted to be part of New Zealand’s most advanced business park. “We have a sophisticated business model and wanted that to be reflected in our new premises and location.
“While Colliers is a big international company it is entrepreneurial in spirit, which has slowed us to put ambitious growth plans in place that we are confident will succeed.”
The Goodman-owned Highbrook on Waiouru Peninsula has a planned business area of 107ha and capacity for 550,000 sq m of industrial and commercial space. Designed by world-renowned landscape architect Peter Walker, the business park incorporates more than 40ha of parks, 14km of walkways, esplanades, sport fields, retail area and childcare facilities.
