Colliers International’s latest quarterly commercial property confidence survey shows that the industrial sector is leading a new recovery in commercial property confidence levels.

The IPD/PCNZ index for the year to March 2010 is encouraging. All the main sectors have been recording negative overall returns for several quarters, as positive income returns were overwhelmed by falls in capital value.

Our investor confidence survey started showing negative sentiment among industrial investors in mid-2007. At that time confidence in the office market was distinctly upbeat. Now, as confidence levels recover and threaten to tip back into positive territory, it is industrial sentiment that leads the way with office lagging.
