Corporate Solutions, Courtney Doig and Alan McMahon recognised
Colliers International New Zealand won three awards at last night’s 2018 RICS Awards at the Hilton, Auckland.
The Colliers International Corporate Solutions team won the Asset Management Team of the Year Award, Christchurch Broker Courtney Doig won the Women of the Built Environment Award, and Research and Consultancy National Director Alan McMahon took home the highly prized Lifetime Achievement Award.
The accolades build on Colliers International’s long-running success at previous RICS Awards, including last year’s haul of three awards and the previous year’s five awards.
Colliers International Chief Executive Officer Mark Synnott says the awards acknowledge the outstanding service and innovation that all Colliers International teams deliver to the market.
“The RICS Awards recognise professionalism, teamwork, outcome and achievement, innovation and sustainability,” Synnott says.
“The accolades we’ve received demonstrate that Colliers International excels in all of these areas. We are not only dominant in terms of sales figures – we are also market leaders when it comes to client satisfaction, innovative solutions, and proven results for our clients.”
Colliers International Auckland Managing Director Charles Cooper says the results are a credit to the hard work of Colliers’ staff and senior leadership team.
“Colliers International has expanded rapidly in recent years, securing new talent and establishing innovative new business lines. The diversity of these awards is a testament not only to the depth and breadth of our experience, but also our market-leading innovation.”
They noted Doig had blazed an impressive and arguably unrivalled track record as an investment sales specialist with Colliers in Christchurch, noting that there are few brokers who can rival her achievements thus far.
She is now the dominant broker in body corporate sales, most particularly those being sold ‘as is where is’ – i.e. unrepaired – and in this complex area, she negotiated $51.9 million of sales in 2017, testament to her initiative, tenacity, and professionalism.
Colliers International Corporate Solutions National Director Don Smith says the team is thrilled to be awarded the Asset Management Team of the Year Award for the second year running.
“The market is extremely competitive, so to be recognised by an independent body of the calibre of RICS is hugely rewarding and a reflection of the commitment, collaboration and experience of the team here at Colliers International,” he says.
“This is a fantastic outcome for us and recognises the leaps and bounds we are making in the property industry on the back of all of the hard work that has been put in over the past few years.”
The Corporate Solutions team was awarded for its innovative use of its Colliers360 systems, and its successful work for Land Information New Zealand’s Crown Property Centre of Expertise (CPCoE).
“Corporate Solutions has implemented a new approach to social housing with its CPCoE work for the current government, with the goal of working towards solving one of New Zealand’s most prominent social problems,” Smith says.
“This is a successful and ongoing project that the entire team is extremely proud to share.”
Alan McMahon was awarded for his work with RICS in New Zealand over more than 20 years, and his contribution to all aspects of the industry since.
In recent years, McMahon has represented RICS as an external examiner of the Property degree course at the University of Auckland, and in a similar role at Massey University, and chaired the New Zealand committee for four years.
He is also a trustee of Massey University’s Property Foundation, a member of the Society of Property Researchers, and a registered consultant with the Property Institute of New Zealand.
He is a frequent media commentator on the New Zealand property market, and oversees the production of more than 30 research reports every year, in addition to providing property consultancy services to many private and public-sector clients.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property and construction, with more than 125,000 accredited members worldwide. This year was the 150-year celebration for the institute.
The annual awards recognise excellence in the land, property and construction sector. Colliers International was shortlisted for a total of seven categories.
