Professional Summary
John entered private practice as a valuer in 2006, gaining registration in 2009. He joined Colliers in June 2018 after having worked for CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) for a number of years.
John has historically undertaken a range of commercial property valuations, however now more commonly completes valuations in relation to specialist property types.
Areas of particular expertise include tourism and leisure assets, visitor accommodation (hotels, motels, holiday parks, lodges and hostels), childcare, self-storage and various other specialist going concern categories. He regularly travels throughout the South Island in the course of his work.
Types of valuations commonly undertaken by John include:
· Market Valuation assignments for due diligence, disposal, secured lending, financial reporting, compensation;
· Rental Valuations and subsequent dispute resolution
· Replacement Insurance Valuations
· General Consultancy Advice
John is a panel valuer for all major banks.
Memberships & Involvements
John is a Registered Valuer, an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers and a Senior Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand. He has sat on the committee of the Property Institute of New Zealand Canterbury-Westland branch since 2012.

Hannah joined Colliers in April 2021, prior to which she held a graduate valuer position at Colliers in Dunedin. She forms part of the Valuation & Advisory team, working towards registration and is gaining experience in commercial valuation with a focus on valuations in relation to specialist property types.
While studying Hannah gained valuable work experience with the development and investment arm of Ngāi Tahu Property, and the property management team at Cowdy Real Estate.
Michelle worked in the Valuation & Advisory Services sector as Valuations Administrator for 8 years before joining Colliers International in July 2019.
