I joined Colliers International Building Consultancy in 2018 as a building surveyor. Previously I worked in commercial property management and as a property consultant, negotiating the acquisition and disposal of property interests for major infrastructure projects in Auckland.
I advise clients on a range of matters including dilapidation claims and IFRS 16 budgeting, pre acquisition dillgence and lessee diligence, condition reporting, insurance reinstatement cost assessments, works monitoring and maintenance planning.
I am in the final stages of becoming an RICS accredited Chartered Building Surveyor.

Phil joined Colliers International’s Building Consultancy team in 2017. His experience includes Building Surveying, Design and Project Management in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Phil regularly provides professional property advice and reports on buildings for a wide range of purposes and project monitoring for building refurbishment and upgrade works.
Prior to joining Colliers, Phil worked in a Building Surveying and Project Management role for a multi-disciplinary property and building consultancy in Auckland. In this role he carried out building condition assessments, weathertightness investigations, maintenance planning, asbestos surveys and was responsible for project management of weathertightness remediation projects and building upgrade schemes.
Phil has also worked for a global multi-disciplinary organisation in Sydney in a Project Management role where he was responsible for delivering commercial building refurbishments. He started his career in the UK where he worked as a Building Surveyor, designing and managing a wide variety of building maintenance, refurbishment and upgrade projects including internal refurbishments, roof replacements, window replacements, structural repairs and re-cladding works.
Phil has worked on pre-acquisition technical due diligence surveys across New Zealand on a diverse range of assets across the industrial, commercial, retail and bulk residential sectors. He regularly assesses the condition of buildings, asseses compliance with regulatory requirements, plans building maintenance and refurbishment works to enable forward maintenance and capital expenditure planning. He has worked on a large number of make good assessments and claims and acted for both Landlords and Tenants to assess leasehold maintenance, repair and reinstatement obligations and negotiate scopes of work and settlements.
Phil has monitored a number of high profile construction projects to review proposed designs, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and monitor works during the construction phase to ensure quality of work and report on cost and programme. He has undertaken Project Management of structural upgrades, building refurbishments and internal fitouts on behalf of a range of clients.
Having qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1995, I have worked from graduate through to director level with some of the top real estate firms.
I specialise in Technical Due Dilligence and have led teams advising on the acquisition of landmark commercial property throughout the UK, Europe and Australasia and The Pacific Islands. I am privileged to have worked with some of the very best clients in each of these markets.
Having relocated to New Zealand at the end of 2011, I am now a New Zealand Citizen and Managing Director of the Building Consultancy division of Colliers International.
