The new GM role will have a particular focus on the areas of the central region of Taupo, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa and will also tap into the almost 700 strong network of people working for Colliers in New Zealand and 18,000 people in 67 countries globally.

Simon Tremain, Director of the Colliers’s Hawke’s Bay franchise, says he is thrilled to have Nilsson on board and driving the business transformation of combining the Colliers Commercial and Colliers Rural & Agribusiness divisions.

“This is a key leadership role, with a mandate to build on our success, promote our services, build relationships and explore new ways to grow our business across multiple divisions and offices.

“Nilsson has a multi-disciplinary skillset, local and international networks and real-world experience that will be a massive benefit for the business, and our clients,”

“We know this successful appointment will also demonstrate to the market our dedication in attracting market-leading talent and providing enterprising solutions for our clients,” says Tremain.

Nilsson says he’s looking forward to the new role and is excited to be part of this new growth chapter for the Hawke’s Bay business.

“My background in banking, investment management and creating an internationally recognised merino wool business provide a unique blend of skills that fits well for the next growth phase.

“As a former New Zealand Rowing representative, I have also learnt a lot about focus, clear objectives and collaboration. These will be invaluable in the ability to deliver on our objectives,” says Nilsson.

Nilsson and his family returned from the UK a few years ago and currently reside on their coastal property next to Cape Kidnappers.

James currently sits on the Land Rover Horse of the Year Board as an Independent Director and was formerly President of the Hereworth School Old Boys Association.
