Commercial property leases can seem complex and daunting to even the most experienced tenants – but they don’t have to be.

A new Colliers PressPLAY video series – A tenant's guide to leases with Chris Farhi – aims to help tenants make better decisions by explaining how commercial property leases work and common pitfalls to avoid.

Chris Farhi, Colliers International’s Strategic Consulting Director, says the video series came about as a response to the issues he frequently encounters when representing tenants during negotiations.

“Tenants are often surprised when something goes wrong – whether it’s a massive rent hike, or an expensive settlement at the end of a lease,” he says.

“The key to avoiding these pitfalls is to understand your lease, plan in advance, keep good records and seek appropriate advice throughout your tenancy.

“The new Colliers PressPLAY video series covers all of these aspects of commercial property leases from a tenant perspective.

“Whether you’re a new tenant, a small business or a large corporate occupier, I’m confident you’ll find something useful in these videos – and hopefully, they might help you to avoid a costly mistake in the future.”
