The New Zealand hotel market continues on its strong ADR-led recovery path since the full re-opening of the country's borders in August 2022. With our second largest international source market, China also now back open and an expanding ramp up of international airline capacity, all indications are now suggesting that we will see an earlier than anticipated recovery to pre-pandemic levels.
On the investment front, although transactional activity remained buoyant in 2022 on the back of robust domestic demand, there were limited larger transactions, with notable deals including the 286 room Stamford Plaza Auckland and the 450+ room YHA Portfolio.
