Canterbury dairy market has had a very interesting spring-summer period and it can currently be best described as a two-tier market.
There have been a number of strong sales of well-located, small to moderate scale dairy farms within Central and Mid Canterbury at the end of the 2017. However, the market is currently experiencing a lack of liquidity. That was first felt for larger scale properties and weak demand for properties in South Canterbury and further afield.
Anecdotal evidence shows that the level of enquiries is somewhat slowing down and existing buyers are being very cautious.
