Colliers International’s recent Research Meets the Road event produced another valuable engagement for
Auckland’s business and commercial property communities.
Colliers' New Zealand National Director of Research & Consulting, Alan McMahon, kicked off a very
enjoyable event with his often entertaining, analysis of activity, trends and sentiment around Auckland’s
property market, McMahon took particular pride in the accuracy of his team’s prediction from 18 months
earlier regards the supply of retail, office and residential property to cope with anticipated population
Stephen Town, CEO of Auckland Council, outlined the priorities and challenges ahead for his council -
specifically in relation to its current review of the 10-year budget, and how he expected the relationship
with central government to develop. Stephen has extensive experience in local government, leadership
of large infrastructure projects and strong credibility across government and the private sector, and his 20
minute address was complemented by a very impressive 20 minutes of illuminating Q&A from the audience.
Colliers International’s National Director of Retail in Australia, Michael Bate, highlighted the desperation of
luxury retail brands to find suitable retail space in the Auckland CBD.
