Build the dream on the rural outskirts of historic Otago mining town
The first sections of a stunning new lifestyle subdivision in the picturesque Otago village of Arrowtown are for sale through Colliers International.
Located in a peaceful rural setting on the outskirts of town, Arrowfields offers 20 idyllic sections of between 600sqm to 1,073sq m.
A short walk from Arrowtown’s quaint main street, this premium residential development has all the appeal of rural living while remaining handy to schools, cafes and shops.
Colliers International Residential Sales Consultant Sophie James says this is a rare opportunity to secure a reasonably priced residential section in Arrowtown.
“Zoning rules and town centre boundaries have ensured vacant sections of bare land in Arrowtown are both scarce and tightly held, meaning opportunities like this don’t come up often,” she says.
“The sections, to be sold in two staged releases, are located just off McDonnell Road, on the southwestern edge of town.
“Residents choosing to build in Arrowfields will benefit from the wonderful northerly aspects offered by each section, enabling them to make the most of the sun.
“They will also enjoy stunning rural and alpine outlooks to the surrounding mountains, all within walking distance of the leafy riverside trails that this area is so renowned for.”
James says Arrowtown is a flourishing small community with a rich history dating back to Otago’s goldmining days.
“Located only 15 minutes’ drive to Queenstown and even less to Queenstown International Airport, the village offers all the benefits of a thriving regional centre, with all the charm and community spirit that comes with small town living.
“Ski fields, wineries, restaurants and golf estates – including the renowned Millbrook and The Hills courses – are practically on your doorstep.”
Colliers International Residential Sales Consultant Stephen Hebbend says the development is part of the wider Arrowtown South Special Zone – a 50ha residential development area on the southern edge of the township.
“Previously zoned rural, the area is located between McDonnell Road to the west, Centennial Avenue to the east and the Arrowtown Golf Course to the south.
“The Arrowfields subdivision is at the northernmost tip of the special zone, directly next to an existing residential zone that currently forms the edge of Arrowtown’s built area.
“The subdivision comprises gently rolling farmland that is bordered to the south by a creek, a small wetland area and a few rocky outcrops.”
Developer Arrowsouth Properties Limited plans to extensively restore the creek and wetland area in conjunction with Mount Soho Trust, which owns the other large landholding within the Arrowtown South Special Zone.
Arrowsouth Director Tony Clear says the development aims to provide new living opportunities within an ecologically enhanced and protected environment.
“A major native revegetation project will see the existing stock-damaged waterway and weed-infested farmland become a lush, enriched ecosystem for wildlife and people to share and enjoy,” he says.
“This band of native shrubs and trees will create a ‘green buffer’ on the urban edge of Arrowtown and will assist in blending existing and proposed residential development with the surrounding landscape.
“A series of tracks will enable public access through the reserve areas and connect to the wider pedestrian and cycle network of Arrowtown.
“Through the establishment of an owners’ group, residents will become stewards of their own ecologically enhanced open space.”
Clear says although the reserve spaces are to be privately owned and managed, public access will be established through parts of the site.
A 1.5m wide track will connect foot and cycle paths on McDonnell Rd with Advance Terrace and Centennial Ave above the escarpment.
A 2m wide path will meander beside the waterway, which will allow the public to appreciate the ecologically enhanced stream environment.
James says only a 5 per cent deposit is needed to secure a section within the subdivision, with titles expected to be issued next spring.
“This is your chance to embrace the good life within one of Otago’s most picturesque and historic communities. Talk to Colliers International to secure your place today.”
