Experienced manager to lead Whangaparaoa Coast Plaza shopping centre transformation

Kylee Meek appointed as Coast Plaza Centre Manager

A Whangaparāoa local with extensive shopping centre management experience will oversee Coast Plaza’s transformation.

Colliers International’s Real Estate Management team, which runs the neighbourhood shopping centre, has appointed Kylee Meek as Coast Plaza Centre Manager.

National Director Richard James says Meek brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to the role.

“Kylee has an extensive marketing background and has worked for Westfield both in New Zealand and Australia,” he says.

“We’re pleased to have Kylee on board as Coast Plaza undergoes a significant transformation, with revitalised public spaces, better community connectivity, and new shopping precincts.

“Being a Coastie herself, Kylee is looking forward to sharing the exciting plans and progress at the centre with the community as it becomes available.”

Meek says resource consent has been granted for a Lollipops childcare facility, licenced for 125 children, and a Chipmunks Kids Playland, both at the old Farmers area.

“The design is currently being finalised, with construction due to commence before the end of the year,” she says.

A new internal food precinct outside the Countdown supermarket is also in the design phase.

“The plans call for a sushi kiosk, seating some 30 people, and a cafe with seats for some 50 people. Construction is also due to commence later this year.”

Auckland Council has issued resource consents for a new town square, including a new outdoor dining precinct, and a new health and medical precinct.

The first retailer has been secured for the town square redevelopment, with the Beer Spot committing to bringing its unique experiential food and beverage offering to Coast Plaza.  

The vision is to transform Coast Plaza into the go-to place for Whangaparāoa locals to meet, shop, eat and relax.

Coast Plaza is a locally owned subregional shopping centre with a net lettable area of 19,623sq m including six large format tenancies, 47 specialty tenancies and three ATMs.

Anchored by national retailers Countdown and The Warehouse, the centre’s major tenants include ASB, ANZ, NZ Post, Life Pharmacy, Jetts Fitness, Club Physical and Flight Centre.

The enclosed, split-level shopping centre is well appointed with car parking for some 840 vehicles, predominantly under cover over two levels.
