New community initiatives under Colliers International's management
North City shopping centre is under new management, with gift card giveaways and action-packed school holiday activities among the first new community initiatives.
The regional shopping centre in Porirua, 15 minutes’ drive north of Wellington, was recently purchased by family-owned Australian property business Angaet Group.
The new owners have appointed New Zealand’s largest shopping centre management company, Colliers International, to manage the centre from Monday July 9.
Richard James, National Director of Real Estate Management at Colliers International, says his team has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the best possible shopping experience for the community.
“We are building up our North City community with customers signing up to receive the latest news and updates about promotions and events at North City.
“By signing up at our new website, north-city.co.nz, customers will also go into the draw to win a $1,000 North City gift card.
“We’re also giving customers the chance to win a $500 gift card at the new @NorthCity Facebook page.
“Simply like and follow us at www.facebook.com/NorthCity to stay up to date with special promos, fun events and more giveaways.”
James says the first events under Colliers’ management include a range of school holiday activities, including Justice League superhero shows and meet-and-greet sessions, a colouring competition and scavenger hunt.
Children will be able to see Batman, Wonder Woman and Lois Lane perform a 20-minute show every day at 11am and 1pm until Wednesday 18 July.
Half-hour meet-and-greet sessions with Batman, Wonder Woman and special guest Superman will take place at 12pm and 2pm.
James says North City gift cards will be available to purchase and use at participating stores soon.
Retailers will also continue to redeem gift cards issued by the shopping centre’s previous owners, Kiwi Property.
Colliers International’s Real Estate Management team manages the largest portfolio of shopping centres in New Zealand including WestCity Waitakere, which Angaet Group purchased in July last year.
The team has more than 90 real estate management professionals and has won RICS New Zealand Awards every year from 2013 to 2017.
Adelaide-based Angaet Group’s portfolio of assets, which includes more than 25 other shopping centres around Australia, is owned entirely by the DiMauro family, under the leadership of Nick DiMauro and his son Michael.
“North City is a vibrant shopping centre, and we are committed to ensuring continuity for its retailers and the community,” Nick DiMauro says.
North City is a 25,403sq m, three-level regional shopping centre anchored by Kmart, Farmers and a Reading Cinemas complex.
The centre has 68 specialty retail tenants, 11 kiosks, 11 food court tenants, and eight suites of office accommodation on the third floor. Car parking for 1,102 cars is provided on-site.
Located at 2 Titahi Bay Road, Porirua, North City was constructed in 1990 and refurbished and extended in 1997 and 2004.
